Free Prime Factorization Calculator
Go straight to calculator Let's say something about PRIME numbers first: - are whole numbers that
- can't be divided by any number - other than 1 and itself (with no remainder)
- are always odd numbers (but not all odd numbers are primes)
- are greater than 1 (1 is NOT a prime number)
On the other hand, every composite number can be factored to primes, and this is what this calculator is for.
Now let's remind ourselfs what are FACTORS: 3 | × | 5 | = | 15 | factor | × | factor | = | multiple (product) |
Composites examples: - 12 = 3 × 2 × 2 = 3 × 22
=> 12 is divisible by 2, 3, 4 and 6 (apart from 1 and 12) - 15 = 3 × 5
=> 15 is divisible by 3 and 5 (apart from 1 and 15) - 54 = 2 × 3 × 3 × 3 = 2 × 33
=> 54 is divisible by 1, 2, 3, 6, 9, 18 and 27 (apart from 1 and 54)
Primes examples: - 5 = 5 × 1
=> is divisible only by 5 and 1 - 11 = 11 × 1
=> is divisible only by 11 and 1 - 29 = 29 × 1
=> is divisible only by 29 and 1
